The White Tower
Tower of London - London, England
This tower is the oldest building in the complex, and the one that most people envision when
they think of the Tower of London. it was built by William the Conqueror and finished by his
successors. The Medieval kings lived here with their families and courts.
The royals lived in the top floor. This is where Richard II was forced to sign away his throne.
On the bottom floor is the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist, where the royal family worshipped.
Its Norman construction is still obvious.
There is a large gallery that contains the armor of Henry VIII. Guards who patrol the tower at night
have complained of a horrible crushing feeling that comes over them as they walk across the gallery, which lifts as soon
as the exit the room. One guard reported the sensation of a black claok being thrown over his head. The cloak tightened around his throat, restricting his airway.
Somehow he was able to fight off the invisible attacker and escape the gallery.
The attack left marks on his neck.
Another less violent interaction was experienced by Mr. Arthur Crick, also a guard. He sat on a ledge to rest for a moment and slipped off his shoe.
A voice whispered to him, "There's only you and I here." According to Mr. Crick, he answered,"Just let me get this bloody shoe on and there will
be only you!"
