Since my visit to this house, I prefer to call it: "The WASTE OF TIME"
Whaley House. If you think Gettysburg is commercial, avoid this house at all costs!
There is no guided tour so you don't even get the history. I am not sure what I paid $6.00 for,
but it was definitely not worth it.
The tour guides kind of sit around joking with each other and making sure
us tourists don't touch anything, even though just about everything is behind thick acrylic
dividers. These dividers explain most of the ghost pictures I have seen posted of this house,
since now I can see they are simply a reflection of the camera flash off the acrylic.
The only place I felt any kind of presence was in the courtroom, but with a constant flow of people
running in and out and up and down the stairs I think any self-respecting spirit would
leave the Whaley House and take up residence in the outhouse to get some quiet! Even
if there was a ghost, I don't know how anyone would ever hear it.
Definitely avoid this tourist trap, unless you like that kind of thing.
Unbelievably, they charge significantly more to enter after 7 pm ($10.00) - and $75.00 per hour per person for an after 10 pm "tour"!
There is no limit on the number of peoiple who can purchase this after hours tour, so, like other tours, you can be
stuck in there with a bunch of people who talk the whole time or don't take it seriously. | |||
