The Hensel Road Ghost
According to legend, an old man is seen walking up and down the road and a glowing light comes out of the woods, hovers over the road then disappears back into the woods. I guess this is a combination ghost/UFO legend. I have been unable to locate any background information on this particular legend. Feel free to share any knowledge of this with us!
Thanks to Ally for sharing this experience with us:
As for
Hansel (or as y'all call it Hensel) Road in Buckingham, Pa, was a short dirt road surrounded by undeveloped land. There was a silly legend that a farmer had found some kids partying on his property and killed them before committing suicide. In 1996, when I was 15 or 16, I set out with some friends to look for any truth to the legend of the ghost of Hensel Road.
My friend drove down the road, periodically stopping and turning off his lights. We sat there for a while on the dark road, chatting about nothing in particular. None of the encounters I have had were done with the assistance of narcotics, so either I saw what I saw or I have a very vivid imagination..
Anyway,We were sitting on the dark road and as my friend started the car, I turned to look at him. Over his shoulder a pale blue light caught my eye. It appeared to be approximately 15 feet away from the car, just inside the wooded lot adjacent to the road. It was about the size of a tennis ball, with a haze around it. I couldn't speak, and the driver didn't notice. As we pulled away, all I could do was turn and watch. The light remained about 6 feet above ground level. It elongated and then faded into the night.
That light is probably in someone's living room now. The entire area is covered with a suburban neighborhood. Only recently did i realize that I may have seen the ghost when I came across a web page where people described sightings very similar to mine. If you look for it, the road is located between 413 (Durham Road) and Burnt House Hill Road.
Thanks, Ally!
I wonder how they got the name Burnt House Hill Road? A little macabre sounding, don't you think?
