This bridge is haunted by a man holding out a pitcher of beer to passers-by.
The ghost is said to be that of William Richardson, who was murdered by three loyalist soldiers
on the bridge in 1783. The whole town was celebrating the colonial victory over England, and
he offered them a pitcher of beer in celebration of the signing of the Treaty of Paris.
This is not the original bridge. This bridge replaced the original bridge in the 1920's.
Apparently replacing the bridge is what set him off, because that is when the sightings
of his ghost started.
he is always reported as a ghostly figure, holding out something in front of him.
It was difficult to locate this bridge, as there are no signs. When one of the locals was asked whether
pr not this was Goose River Bridge, he replied in typical Maine fashion, "Well, that's the Goose River, and that's the only bridge over it,
so I guess you could call it that."
There are a few potential orbs in these photos - but since they are just as likely to be due to
the misty Maine weather, the jury will have to stay out on it.
