Fort Delaware

Pea Patch Island - accessible from Delaware City, DE

This picture was taken with a 35 mm camera on one of my many visits to the fort. It shows the interior of one of the "cells" in the upstairs portion of the sally port. On subsequent visits, this area was restricted and could not be accessed for further investigation.

I did not know that there was a mannequin inside the room when I snapped this photo, and jumped and shrieked a bit when I saw it, illuminated by the flash. As I took the photo, I did feel something like a cool breeze blow by my ear. I just assumed it was just a river breeze, but maybe there was more to it.
